Yama-ji Dôjô does not provide nor supply uniforms and equipment. The necessary uniforms and equipment required for training may be obtained through various martial arts suppliers. On this page is information and links to a few recommendations so you may make purchases on your own. Seibukan Karate-dô: Karate students are required to have a karate-gi (uniform). Although karate is primarily practiced in solo form, light to moderate grappling is employed when practicing applications to techniques. The uniform material should be white in color, have drawstring pants and be of a medium or heavy weight. Judô / Jujutsu: Judô / Jujutsu students are required to have a judô-gi (uniform). Judô is a physically demanding martial art whose primary emphasis is grappling. Therefore, the judô-gi is designed specifically for this purpose. The uniform material should be white in color, have drawstring pants and be of a medium or heavy weight. Shin Tenshin Shinyo-ryû: Shin Tenshin Shinyo-ryû students are required to have a judô-gi (uniform) and keiko-gi and hakama (working top and divided pants). Like Judô, Shin Tenshin Shinyo-ryû incorporates extensive grappling in the curriculum. Therefore, the judô-gi is primarily worn when performing empty-handed grappling. The keiko-gi and hakama are designed to facilitate working with weapons especially the Japanese sword. Student will also be required to purchase weapons within a few months of training.
